Parents Association Officers
PA Officers were elected at the PA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on October 15th, 2024:
Chairperson: Ann Geraghty
Treasurer: Jacinta Power
Secretary: Ciara McGrath
The PA meets approximately once per month, typically on a Monday in the Junior Hall at 8pm. All Scoil Bhríde parents are welcome to attend.
Smartphone Pact & Alliance
In May and early June 2024, the PA invited parents to complete a short Scoil Bhríde Smartphone Survey to identify if parents were interested in taking part in a voluntary Smartphone Agreement, to hold off on the purchase of smartphones for children until after primary school. Over 150 responses were received representing approximately 35% of the student population across all class levels. Findings showed that:
93% of respondents stated they believe primary school children should NOT have a smartphone
82% of respondents indicated they would like to take part in a voluntary Smartphone Agreement
In collaboration with 14 schools across South Kildare, the PA will continue to lead work on the voluntary Smartphone Pact in the 2024/2025 school year. The official launch document of the South Kildare Schools Smartphone Alliance, was shared by the PA in all participating schools in the last week of school. This Autumn the Alliance will host an information meeting and will share resources and supports for parents will all participating schools (details TBD).

Summer Programme/Camp 2024
Scoil Bhríde's Summer Programme/July Provision took place for four weeks during the month of July 2024. Three classes of children (junior, middle and senior) participated. The programme continued for a fourth week with children in Sonas, our three classes for children with Autism. The Summer Programme theme for 2024 was 'Building Confidence & Connections'. Below, you'll see some of the wonderful activities organised for children to support them to feel competent and confident as learners and communicators, over the four weeks of the programme, from Monday July 1st to Friday, July 26th. Some of the special activities organised included:
Week 1: Reptile Haven; Jam Music - Session 1; Kildare Farm Foods; Beebots and Movies & Popcorn.
Week 2: Jam Music - Session 2; The Cool Food School; Fairy Trail; Giant Bubbles and Garda Visit.
Week 3: Magician Visit; Firefighter/Fire-engine Visit; Cooking & Baking; Sports Day and Pizza Party.
Week 4: Tuff Tray & Giant Bubbles; Jungle Den; Ice-Cream Parlour and Final Day Party.
